This yoga retreat with Amy & Julie was transformative and I promise it wasn’t just the amazing surroundings and Pura Vida lifestyle of Costa Rica. For their first retreat these girls nailed it. Amy & Julie are so genuine, full of life, humor and compassion. They were able to bring 17 people that mostly didn’t know one another from across the country and work their magic on us. We all felt so incredibly grateful to explore ourselves and yoga (experience didn’t matter) everyday. The food was prepared fresh everyday day. Just delicious and healthy! The resort and the staff were awesome too!  ~2017 Retreat Participant

I went to Costa Rica searching for relaxation and yoga. I came home with much more, amazing lifelong friendships, self discovery, and wonderful memories.  ~2017 Retreat Participant

We are sad to say that Julie Shannon will not be co-leading this year’s retreat. But, we are happy to say this is due to her getting married and family planning! Stay tuned for details on our 2019 retreat – that Julie will be once again co-leading with Amy. Carla Gesell will be taking Julie’s place for the 2018 retreat. She is a yoga therapist and a photographer and thrilled to be joining everyone in Costa Rica this year! Learn more about Carla here.

Look how much we fun we had at the 2017 retreat!!!

Amy and Julie are wonderful teachers and healers. I took a risk by committing to their retreat in Costa Rica because I had not met them before. While emailing with them beforehand I felt an energetic connection that was genuine and positive and my gut told me to do it. I am so glad I did.

As yoga teachers they are professional, fun, very knowledgeable, kind and easy going. You are encouraged and supported in going at your own pace (this is something often given lip service but not truly valued. Amy and Julie encouraged us to stay connected to our bodies and listen to them.) They built the retreat around the chakras and we explored one a day in classes. I learned a lot from them and was able to go deep into my own personal journey with their guidance. It is a bonus that they are both healers! Doing private sessions with them was a great way to integrate the chakra work we were doing into my own personal journey. They are also a lot of fun. They joined us on excursions (surfing, snorkeling, paddle-boarding) and encouraged lots of play and laughter. I felt very “held” by them throughout the week without feeling any pressure to have the experience be anything but what it needed to be for me.

Lastly, Bodhi Tree Resort is phenomenal. The perfect spot for a yoga retreat in the tropics. A & J chose wisely and helped us make the most of it – whatever that meant for each of us individually. I would definitely do a retreat with them again.  ~2017 Retreat Participant
