The Magical Lint-Being

Can you marvel at a piece of dust? Can you generously give your attention to the floor, sky, desk, or chair? Can you let yourself be in wonder of the fact that God is in every little moment and every little thing?

I was practicing yoga the other morning and as I did so I discovered myself gazing towards a little piece of lint resting on the floor in front of me. As I gave this little piece of lint my attention I was filled with glee. I became increasingly ecstatic as I took in the presence of this little piece of dust. It came alive to me. It was present with me and me with it. We merged into some altered state beyond "me and you", and beyond, "you are a piece of lint, therefore unimportant or unworthy of my attention".

It was so easy and effortless to be with this little "Lint-Being". It wanted nothing from me, yet, in being with it, I felt that we both thoroughly enjoyed our time together. Neither of us required the other to do something it was not called to do. Neither of us demanded the other to wake up, become more present, change, or leave. There were no unspoken requests being exchanged between us. We just were . . . together . . . in the moment.

Everything is energy. And, all energy, at the root, is one energy that has organized itself into unlimited, unique vibrational patterns. Because of this our world is very colorful and rich.

I view this root energy as God. Call it what you’d like, but for me, God is a simple and easy word choice. I’m not speaking about a religious God. I’m not speaking about a he or she either. I’m speaking about an omnipotent, omnipresent energy that is the very foundation of existence. It is creative. It is love. It is abundant.

So much of the time we are looking through the lens of judgment at the world. Some people are good, others are evil. Certain things deserve our kindness and presence, while other things do not. On any other day I most likely would have glanced beyond the "piece of lint littering the studio floor" to something more appealing. But, on this particular morning I saw a little "lint-being" resting delicately on the floor in front of me; sacred, precious, and divine.

Can you see beyond the world of solid matter to the energetic essence of all things? Can you pause, breathe, and just be present with what is right before your eyes? Can you remove your lens of judgment and innocently experience the truth of life?

Try this affirmation today:
"I choose this moment to just be, I accept the unknown, and I open to feel my oneness with all that is."
